John P. McEleney

John McEleney is a life-long resident of Clinton, Iowa, located along the Mississippi River. After receiving a degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, he joined the McEleney automotive organization and has served in numerous operational capacities. McEleney became dealer operator of the General Motors dealership in 1976 at age 24 and is currently President of McEleney Autocenter, Inc., Clinton, Iowa, and McEleney Autoplex, Inc., Iowa City, Iowa. The franchises held by these organizations include Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Toyota and Hyundai. [More]

Vice Chairman Edward C. Tonkin

Edward C. TonkinA new car-dealer since 1981, Edward C. "Ed" Tonkin became a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association in 1981. He has served as chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Committee and Hyundai chairman for the Industry Relations Committee. He is also co-chair for the Oregon Automobile Dealers Association’s Workers Compensation Committee. Tonkin was a member of NADA Project 2000 from 1996 through 1997, past president, vice president and secretary for the Oregon Automobile Dealers Association from 1990 through 1993. He has held positions such as past president, vice president and secretary for the Metropolitan Portland Automobile Dealers Association from 1987 through 1990. President Phillip D. Brady

Phillip D. BradyPhillip D. Brady was appointed president of the National Automobile Dealers Association in June 2001. Brady directs a staff of almost 500 employees, who carry out the activities of the association in government and industry relations, education and dealership operations, public affairs and dealer retirement and insurance programs. Prior to joining NADA, he served five years as the vice president and general counsel for the American Automobile Manufacturers Association, the then trade association for Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. During the Bush Administration Brady served in the White House as assistant to the president and staff secretary from 1991-1993, and in the U.S. Department of Transportation as general counsel from 1989-1991. During the Reagan Administration he served in the White House as deputy counsel to the president from 1988-1989 and as deputy assistant to the vice president from 1985-1988. Prior governmental service also includes appointments in the U.S. Department of Justice and with the U.S. Congress. [More]
