Laptops and desktop computers across the country got fired up for the second day of NADA’s first ever virtual live Show as hosts Maggie Clark and Madison Alexander teed up the day’s programming on the NADA’s Virtual Live Stage.
But first, the two hosts provided an overview of some of the can’t-miss NADA Show events, including the “Diversity in Auto Retail” Super Session, franchise meetings, the virtual Expo, plus the Women Driving Auto Retail virtual happy hour and the announcement of the winner of the 4th Annual Women Driving Auto Retail video contest.
What Lies Ahead
Incoming 2021 NADA Chairman Paul Walser is taking on his role in a unique moment in NADA’s history. As for the year ahead, Walser said he’s focused on strengthening the franchise system and helping dealers adapt to today’s business environment. “The more we can put our energy into making the franchise system stronger and better through all of the people it impacts, the better off we’re going to be going forward,” Walser said. Workshop Essentials
With NADA Show going virtual this year, dealership owners and managers can get the most out of the wide variety of Show workshops, presented by NADA and industry experts. “In a typical year, a dealer would send their higher-level staff to the Show,” explained NADA Academy Instructor Georgia Munson. “This year, truly, with NADA show going virtual, it’s a unique opportunity to have access to all this education and training but it’s for everyone now.” Watch the video below to hear Munson’s thoughts on workshops and why they matter for dealerships.
Regulatory Update
Any administration transition is going to have a big impact on businesses, including auto dealers, according to NADA’s Paul Metrey. That’s especially true this year, when the Senate is evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. “In that situation, it’s unlikely that the president will be able to pass major policy initiatives through legislation,” Metrey said. Missing New Orleans
At the end of last year’s NADA Show, Will Green and his colleagues and members of the Louisiana Auto Dealers Association were celebrating as Susan Moffitt of Porsche Shreveport in Louisiana was named the 2020 TIME Dealer of the Year. This year, New Orleans—which was supposed to be the host city for NADA Show 2021—was shut down by COVID and hit by five major named storms. “As many struggles as we’ve had, I’ve really seen us as an industry overcome so much to serve our communities in the right way, safely and really be that essential source that consumers can come to for safe and reliable transportation,” Green said.
