With Thanksgiving just around the corner, families and friends are preparing to come together and celebrate the holiday over a home-cooked meal. Unfortunately, this is not an experience all Americans share. In 2023, around one in seven households experienced food insecurity, or lack of access to an affordable, nutritious diet. Fortunately, local franchised automotive dealerships across the country are pitching in to make sure Americans not only get their Thanksgiving dinner, but contribute to the efforts of food banks and charities fighting hunger year round.

Dealerships are an essential part of many communities. But, Thanksgiving provides a special opportunity for franchised dealerships to do a little extra for those in need. Local auto retailers often work in tandem with charitable organizations to organize food and donation drives to provide the necessary resources for families in need. Whether they’re hosting drop boxes to make donating more convenient or directly donating food and money to those in need, dealerships continue to lend a hand.

These touching stories can be found from coast to coast all over the United States. In Alabama, for example, Townsend Nissan Tuscaloosa is partnering with a local grocery store and community group to provide turkeys to 25 single-parent families in the surrounding area. Up in Utah, Riverton Chevrolet and Karl Malone Auto are participating in Utah Food Bank’s annual holiday food drive as drop off locations for food donations. And in New York, West Herr Auto Group is holding an annual food drive for canned goods as well as donating $100,000 worth of turkeys to those in need.

These are just a few of the ways local dealerships are making a difference as we approach the beginning of the holiday season. Thanks to their efforts and their work with charitable organizations, millions of families will be able to sit down this year at Thanksgiving and have the chance to enjoy a delicious, hot meal surrounded by loved ones. So this holiday season don’t forget to stop by your local dealership, food bank, or charity and pitch in what you can to help all Americans appreciate the holiday joy.
