At the 2023 annual National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD) membership meeting, NADA Board Member Jay Rivchin was one of four automotive industry leaders recognized with the organizations’ prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Rivchin is the dealer principal/president of Dadeland Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram and South Miami Alfa Romeo Fiat in Miami, Fla. and Homestead Hyundai Genesis in Homestead, Fla.
The award, which recognizes a lifetime of significant contributions to the automotive industry and to the spirit of diversity and inclusion, was given to Rivchin during the organization’s 43rd annual membership meeting held in Miami from Oct. 10-13, 2023. Award recipients are chosen by the NAMAD Board of Directors.
“Jay has been an energetic force for this industry and a dedicated advocate for minority-owned dealerships,” said Perry Watson IV, president of NAMAD. “Jay’s individual career is one of auto retail’s most inspiring stories, and his commitment to his community and the industry is truly remarkable and deserving of recognition.”
Rivchin started his career in the automotive business in 1979 at Dadeland Dodge after moving to Miami from South Korea. He started as a salesperson, rising to general sales manager. After a brief stint at another dealership, he returned to Dadeland as general manager and part-owner. Rivchin took full ownership in 2002 and added two more dealerships.
“I am honored to receive a lifetime achievement award, but I want to be clear: I’m just getting started,” Rivchin said. “My passions and priorities are growing the NAMAD Next Generation and increasing dealership opportunities for the minority population.”
Rivchin has been an at-large member of the NADA board of directors since 2021, representing minority dealers from the East Region, and an executive board member of NAMAD since 2010. He has also served as an executive board member for the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association and Chrysler Minority Dealer Association. In 2016, Rivchin was recognized with the NAMAD Distinguished Service Award.
