On Monday, Feb. 17 at NADA’s Live Stage located on the central concourse of the Las Vegas Convention Center, four NADA & ATD women leaders presented the grand-prize winner of the third annual Women Driving Auto Retail video contest to Scholfield Honda in Wichita, Kan.

Val Bowen, president of ValMark Chevrolet in New Braunfels, Texas; Annette DiLorenzo Thayer, owner of Quality Dealerships in Albuquerque, N.M.; Michelle Prim, managing partner at Cascade Auto Group in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and Jodie Teuton, co-founder and vice president of Kenworth of Louisiana in Gray, La. presented the award to Scholfield Honda service manager Jennifer Snodgrass, who was featured in the dealership’s video submission.

“The videos are truly inspiring and for many of us on this stage, they brought tears to our eyes,” said past ATD chairwoman Jodie Teuton. “We got so many great videos and it was hard to narrow it down to ten semifinalists.”

Launched in late August 2019, the third annual contest called on women working in the auto retail industry to share their career path, why they love the auto retail industry and encourage other women to pursue automotive careers in a three minute video.

The video contest, part of NADA’s Women Driving Auto Retail initiative, highlighted the current voices of women working in dealerships and encouraged other women to pursue automotive careers.

While all of the videos received were incredibly moving and highlighted a range of experiences and roles for women in the automotive retail industry, Scholfield’s video was a standout. In the video, Scholfield Honda service advisor Caitlin Hays shared why the auto industry is a great place for women to succeed: “The auto industry is a great place for women to succeed because it is a great equalizer. If a woman is dedicated and willing to work hard, she can do just as well as her male counterparts.”

Ten semifinalists, who will receive a $500 giftcard, were named on Feb. 6. As the grand-prize winner, Scholfield Honda will receive a $1,000 gift card plus complimentary registration and a $1,000 travel stipend for one of the women featured in their video to attend NADA Show 2021 in New Orleans.
