Google's Brad Herley and Kim Cianci discussed the use of Android devices in modern vehicles at the NADA Live Stage in Las Vegas on Feb. 2 during NADA Show 2024.

“We have a clear vision for automotive: to create a safe and seamless connected experience in the car and be helpful in every drive,” Herley said.

The Google representatives presented the Android Auto feature, which comes with every Android device and is compatible with more than 200 million vehicles. This feature mirrors the phone’s display in the vehicle’s infotainment system display.

Several manufacturers, including Honda and Ford, offer vehicles with Google built-in, which integrates Google apps into the vehicle for both Android and iPhone users. One significant feature in the map application allows EV drivers to map their routes with charger stops.

“We understand the importance of apps from a dealer perspective,” Herley said. “You are helping educate your consumers.”

As part of that education, Cianci suggested that dealership staff help customers sign into the connected features of their vehicles before leaving the lot to ensure they can fully utilize the applications.
